TDEE and daily calorie calculator

Estimate the energy your body uses at rest and across an average day. The result is a starting estimate, not a calorie prescription.

Estimate daily energy use

For adults only. The formula uses age, height, weight, sex, and an activity estimate.

What this TDEE calculator uses

The calculator first estimates resting energy expenditure with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation. It then applies a standard activity multiplier to estimate total daily energy expenditure, or TDEE.

Activity multipliers compress a complicated week into one choice, so the answer cannot be exact. We show a rough ±10% range instead of pretending to know a single perfect number.

Do not treat TDEE as a calorie target

Your medical history, body composition, medicine, appetite, and recent weight change can all affect what you need. This tool does not calculate a calorie deficit. If GLP‑1 treatment makes it difficult to eat or drink enough, speak with your clinician or a registered dietitian rather than forcing a calculator target.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RMR and TDEE?

RMR estimates energy used at rest. TDEE adds an activity multiplier to estimate the energy used across a full day.

How accurate is a TDEE calculator?

It is an estimate. The Mifflin–St Jeor equation performs reasonably at a population level, but individual error remains and activity multipliers add more uncertainty.

Should I subtract 500 calories while taking Mounjaro or Zepbound?

This tool does not recommend a deficit. A fixed subtraction can be inappropriate when appetite is already reduced or when your health needs differ. Ask your clinician or dietitian for a personal target.
