How many clicks are left in my Mounjaro pen?

Start with the 240 clicks used by the pen’s four labelled full dials. Enter the clicks you have already used, or estimate them from your dose history.

Calculate the clicks left

For the most accurate result, enter the whole clicks you actually dialled.

Labelled capacity only

This calculator stops at 240 clicks: four theoretical 60-click dials. It ignores priming and any extra medicine left in the cartridge. Lilly instructs users to discard the pen after four fixed doses and not to inject or transfer the leftover medicine.

The simplest way to track what is left

Write down the actual whole-click count immediately after every injection. The remaining-click calculation is then 240 minus all clicks already used.

If you enter dose history instead, the tool converts each dose to clicks and rounds each injection to the nearest whole click. That result is an estimate because your actual dial may have differed.

Why the cartridge lines cannot answer this

Lilly says the lines visible on the Mounjaro KwikPen cartridge are not dose indicators. They cannot reliably tell you how many doses remain. A written click log is clearer than judging the liquid by eye.

The old “300-click” pen and the modified pen

The initial KwikPen left visible medicine after the fourth dose. Some users called it a “300-click pen” by adding that leftover to the four 60-click dials. Lilly never described it as a 300-click capacity, and the pen could not dial another complete 0.6 mL dose.

Lilly is gradually replacing the initial design with a modified pen that leaves much less medicine visible after dose four. Both versions may remain in circulation until old stock runs out. The calculator uses the same 240 labelled clicks for both because each officially contains four fixed doses—not five.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the clicks left in a Mounjaro pen?

Subtract the whole clicks you have used from 240. If you used 220 clicks, the theoretical labelled balance is 20 clicks. Priming and leftover overfill are not included.

Why does this tool start at 240 instead of 300 clicks?

The old “300-click pen” name was community shorthand for the four 60-click dials plus visible leftover medicine. Lilly did not publish 300 as a usable capacity, and an extra full dose could not be dialled. The modified pen now being introduced leaves much less visible medicine, but both designs officially contain the same four doses, so this tool starts at 240.

Can I tell how many doses remain from the lines on the pen?

No. Lilly says the cartridge lines are not intended to show the number of doses remaining.

Does an estimated balance mean I should keep using the pen?

No. The result is a record-keeping estimate, not permission to extend storage, take a partial dose, or use leftover medicine. Follow the instructions supplied with your pen and your clinician’s advice.
