Mounjaro tick calculator & Zepbound tick calculator
Enter the dose your clinician prescribed, then choose the strength printed on your KwikPen. The calculator converts that dose into a theoretical whole-click count.
Calculate KwikPen ticks
The dose must not be greater than one full dial of the selected pen.
Before you use the result
Lilly’s instructions describe each KwikPen as four fixed doses. They do not explain how to take a partial dose by counting clicks, and Lilly says dose splitting has not been studied. Use only a dose prescribed to you, check the exact pen in your hand, and speak with your prescriber or pharmacist before taking a partial dial. Do not use leftover medicine after the fourth labelled dose.
How the calculation works
A Mounjaro or Zepbound KwikPen contains four labelled doses of 0.6 mL. Click-counting communities commonly treat one full dial as 60 clicks, or 240 clicks across the four labelled doses. The calculation is: prescribed dose ÷ pen strength × 60.
For example, 5 mg from a 15 mg pen gives 5 ÷ 15 × 60 = 20 clicks. This is arithmetic, not a dosing recommendation or a manufacturer-approved instruction.
What happens when the answer is not a whole click?
The pen cannot stop at a fraction of a click. When the exact answer is fractional, the calculator shows the nearest whole click and the dose that whole click would represent. It does not hide the rounding.
A small rounding difference matters more with a stronger pen because each click contains more tirzepatide. Confirm any partial-dose plan with the clinician who prescribed your medicine.
What happened to the old “300-click” pen?
The initial KwikPen left visible medicine in the cartridge after the fourth dose. Some users called it a “300-click pen” by adding that leftover to the 240 clicks in the four labelled dials. That was community shorthand, not a capacity published by Lilly: the extra full 0.6 mL dose could not be dialled.
Lilly is gradually replacing that design with a modified pen that leaves much less medicine visible after dose four. Both designs may appear until old stock runs out, and both officially contain four fixed 0.6 mL doses. This calculator therefore uses 240 labelled clicks for either design and never counts priming, leftover medicine, or a so-called fifth dose.
Frequently asked questions
How many clicks are in a Mounjaro KwikPen?
This calculator uses the common click-counting convention of 60 clicks per full dial and 240 across four labelled doses. Lilly’s official instructions describe four fixed 0.6 mL doses; they do not publish partial-dose click instructions.
How many Mounjaro clicks equal 5 mg on a 15 mg pen?
The mathematical result is 20 clicks: 5 ÷ 15 × 60. That does not make partial dialing an approved instruction. Confirm the plan with your prescriber or pharmacist.
Does the calculator work for Zepbound KwikPen?
Yes, for the multi-dose Zepbound KwikPen strengths of 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15 mg. It does not apply to single-dose pens or vials. Check the presentation and strength printed on your medicine.
Can I use a higher-strength pen to take a smaller dose?
The calculator can show the arithmetic, but it cannot tell you whether that plan is right or safe for you. Lilly says its instructions do not provide a method for dialing less than the fixed dose and that dose splitting has not been studied.
